TwinPegs is aware of the roots of adventure motorcycling, and it is a pleasure to finally offer a TwinPegs kit for the mighty R80GS/ R100GS!

The R80 G/S became the template for every adventure bike that followed. And it established the great GS range of adventure bikes from BMW. In Paris-Dakar, from the beginning dominated by Yamaha XT 500, this milestone BMW won dominance with riders like Hubert Auriol and Gaston Rahier proved its mettle in the harshest conditions. These wins boosted sales and cemented its status as the go-to machine for globe-trotting adventurers.

The design was not straight forward, with the original footpegs the centre stand came far too close to allow space for a TwinPegs kit. However, the bike we used for designing this kit was equipped with aftermarket footpegs from Q-tech. Where the foopeg surface where lowered and placed further forward. This is a good modification on these bikes, both for giving a better sitting position and a better standing position. With these aftermarket footpegs installed, it was possible to design a bolt on TwinPegs kit that gave a sufficient spacing between the primary footpeg and the additional rear footpeg. Which is height adjustable, as with all other TwinPegs kits, so the setup can be tuned for each riders individual preferences.

The TwinPegs kit for BMW R80GS/ R100GS is thus not designed to be used with the standard footpegs. It is designed to be used with aftermarket footpegs that places the footrest further forward and lower, like Q-Tech as shown in the pictures, or similar.

The only adjustment necessary to the bike, is a slight trimming of the sidecover to allow space for the top of the TwinPegs bracket behind it.
